Sweetness of siblings
Most of the time I find myself "directing" the children to be kind. Don't act out in anger or pain. Love one another. To my kids I'm sure my voice is somewhat similar to the teacher's voice in Charlie Brown. But sometimes, I get a glimpse. A glimpse into the purest part of their hearts. Defensive walls down for a brief moment, self-preservation mode turned off. Those are the moments I cleave to.
This morning Bro and Tomato sneak into our room. Bro on the right, Tomato on the left. They lay there quiet and still. Then they almost simultaneously reach for each other. They clasp hands, fingers intertwined. "I wuv you Roma" says Bro. To which she answers "I love you too Broder." Then Bro turns her hand over and kisses it. A sweet moment between big sis and little bro.
If this is Jesus working through my babies, then this must be the way He is working through us. If our walls are down, defenses gone, do we love like this?
I know that in my daily routine, my determination and focus get in the way of my life's mission. To grow my babies in Christ to exemplify God's love to others. To show them how to love by modeling love.
